Lino Mūka his this the first yarn by Ruta, the owner of Wollen Berlin.
Lino Mūka translates to 'life of flax' in Lithuanian, where the fibre has a special place in the culture and
it is also very popular. Flax has grown there for thousands of years because the climate and soil are ideal for the hand.
Characteristics of linen:
Linen is very hard-wearing and becomes softer and more beautiful with wearing and washing. A garment made of high quality linen still looks like new even after years of washing and wearing. So don't be put off by the fact that the yarn feels hard the first time you touch it. Even while knitting it becomes noticeably softer and smoother due to the movement and warmth of the hands.
Ruta: I saw the potential of pure linen because it is a beautiful material for the summer as it's light and cool on the skin. It is also sustainable, it grows in Europe and therefore doesn't need to be imported from overseas. Almost every part of the flax can be used. Don't forget, it is purely plat based and therefore suitable for people with allergies or sensitive skin as well as vegans.
